What is AcuCongress?
AcuCongress is a resource for educating and training acupuncturists in how to be advocates for their profession, specifically as related to the federal Medicare Inclusion Legislation of 2021-2022. This newly introduced legislation is an Act of Congress to include LAcs as recognized providers in the Social Security Act (SSA). Being included as a recognized provider type in the SSA is a big help in being able to be included in other federal programs that are governed by or influenced by the SSA. The biggest of these programs is Medicare.

What’s going on with Medicare Coverage and Denials of Acupuncture for cLBP this year?
I don’t know exactly. However, I have hosted some community discussions on this with the community to help us better hone in on the issues and develop the question. Because when we have good questions, it is easier to find the solutions.
Specifically, the November 2020 community discussion led to me inviting federal integrative health legislative expert, Dr. Kallie Byrd Guimond, OM.D, MPH, to speak with us in April 2021 about Medicare, SSA, and LAcs.
